Sustainability
At Meadow & Bay, sustainability is super important to us. We know the choices we make today have a big impact on our planet, and we’re committed to making sure everything we create is as eco-friendly as possible. That's why we focus on producing athleisure that's not only stylish and comfortable but also good for the environment.
Slow fashion
We put a lot of thought into everything we design and use, making sure it's genuinely sustainable and fit for purpose. Our pieces are carefully crafted by one talented seamstress, and we order in very small quantities to avoid waste. By focusing on quality over quantity, we create pieces that last longer and have a smaller environmental footprint.
Fabric and trims
We're committed to sourcing high-quality, sustainable fabrics, especially fabrics comprised primarily of ECONYL® regenerated nylon. Made in Italy, ECONYL® yarn is created from things such as fishing nets and old carpets that would otherwise end up in landfill. The elastics we use are either 100% natural rubber, a GOTS-certified cotton and natural rubber blend, or a GRS-certified recycled polyester and natural rubber blend. Our thread is made from 100% recycled premium polyester, and our care, size and brand labels are 100% GOTS-certified cotton.
Packaging
Our commitment to sustainability extends to our packaging. Our swing tags and thank you cards are made from residual cotton from the textile industry and mixed with wildflower seeds, so they can be planted! Our tissue paper and stickers are FSC-certified, recyclable and compostable, as are our boxes. Our mailers are made of cornstarch, so they're also fully compostable. Any ribbon we use is made from a fabulous fibre made from wood pulp which fully biodegrades within 100 days in the right conditions.
Ethical manufacturing
We work with a wonderful, talented seamstress in England who has a beautiful studio and is fairly paid.
Right now, we’re doing our best to be as sustainable as possible and are incredibly proud of our efforts. But we’re always looking for ways to reduce our environmental footprint even more.
